Monthly website maintenance

Monthly website maintenance — updates, security and peace of mind

A website needs care after launch. We review its condition, plan the necessary updates and check the actions that matter after each change — sending an enquiry, placing an order or finding up-to-date information.

WHO IT HELPS

Does this sound familiar?

For businesses and organisations with an existing website that need a clear owner for technical upkeep, a record of changes and visibility of outstanding issues.

THE WORK IN PRACTICE

What the service includes

01

Initial review and plan

Establish the technology, access, hosting, backups and critical functions. We propose a scope based on the site’s condition and your needs before starting an ongoing agreement.

02

WordPress and WooCommerce

Agreed updates to WordPress, themes and plugins. Before higher-risk changes, prepare a backup and recovery route; afterwards, check compatibility, forms, basket and checkout.

03

Next.js and custom websites

Review dependencies and relevant security advisories, the build and agreed deployment process. Check routes, forms and integrations; hosting management depends on access and the agreed scope.

04

Content and monthly reporting

Agreed small text and image updates, followed by checks of affected pages on desktop and mobile. Receive a record of work, outstanding issues and recommendations for the next period.

Scope boundaries

Scope and response times are agreed for each website. Hosting, domains, paid licences, third-party services, advertising spend, major new functionality and work outside agreed hours are not automatically included. Maintenance reduces risk; it cannot guarantee protection from every attack or uninterrupted availability.

ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIOS · NOT CLIENT CASE STUDIES

What does maintenance look like in practice?

An online shop before an update

Problem
Updates are available for WooCommerce and the payment plugin. The owner is concerned about interrupting orders.
Review
Check compatibility, the backup and any available test environment. Agree who approves the change and how to test payment without an unauthorised real transaction.
Change
After approval, update in the agreed window and check a product, basket, shipping, payment in test mode where available, and notifications.
Practical benefit
The owner receives a record of checks and remaining limitations. An issue can be detected before a customer has to report it.

An organisation with new services and contacts

Problem
Services and opening hours have changed, but the website still shows old information and enquiries should now reach a different person.
Review
Identify every place the information appears and who can confirm it. Review the enquiry route and permission to make changes.
Change
Update the agreed pages and contact details, check mobile layouts and test delivery only to an explicitly approved recipient.
Practical benefit
Visitors find consistent information. The team knows where enquiries arrive and what has actually been checked.

BEFORE THE CHANGE

Is there a way back?

Agreed scope → backup → checked recovery route.

AFTER THE CHANGE

Does the critical journey work?

Affected pages → enquiry or order → record of checks and limitations.

How we evaluate progress

The report records updated components, checks completed, open issues and decisions needed. A successful build is only part of the check: we also test the affected customer journey.

When to choose this service

Maintenance looks after an existing website. Development adds new pages and functionality. SEO works on organic discovery and content. If a review reveals a need for larger changes, we explain and scope them separately.

How you can assess the work delivered

Before work begins, we agree the baseline, specific deliverables and acceptance checks. You receive a record of the work completed and recommended next steps.

BEFORE WE START

Practical questions

Can you maintain a website you did not build?

Yes, following a review of the technology, access and technical condition. If there are serious issues or unsupported components, we first establish the repairs needed and whether we can take responsibility.

What happens if an update causes a problem?

Before higher-risk changes, we establish a backup, a test environment where available and a rollback route. If a problem occurs, we stop the change, assess the cause and use the agreed recovery plan.

Does maintenance include SEO?

Technical checks may identify an SEO issue. Ongoing SEO strategy, new content and campaigns are separate unless explicitly included in the agreement.

How do you set the price and response time?

After reviewing the website and its critical functions, we agree tasks, frequency, service hours and response arrangements. There is no universal package or automatic promise of 24/7 cover.

What should I send you?

The website address, its technology if you know it, and your main concerns. Do not send passwords, backups or customer data through the contact form. Access is arranged through a separate secure process.

THE NEXT STEP
